Our Solar System Vocabulary

solar system – Our solar system is made up of the sun and all the objects that move around the sun.

sun – The sun is the star at the center of our solar system. It gives off light and heat.

revolve – When an object revolves, it moves around something.

planet – A planet is a large object that revolves around the sun.

Earth – We live on the planet Earth.

moon – A moon is an object that revolves around a planet.

rotate – When an object rotates, it spins like a top. Earth rotates as it moves through space.
